A very special day for the family as we seek to reunite with our African past. FiWiSinting is a day of Poetry, Jonkunu, nyabinghi, storetelling. African MarketPlace, kumina, mento, African and natural foods and juices culminating with the launching of an accestral raft in honour of those who have gone before.

Great Houses Tour
A great way to spend a day is to explore two of Jamaica’s authentic “Great Houses” relics of the days of the great plantation.  ROSE HALL GREAT HOUSE was the grandest of all. The infamous “Annie Palmer” mistress of Rose Hall is said to have been trained in voodoo in Haiti.  Known as the White Witch she ruled with cruelty, murdering three husbands and finally meeting her end at the hands of her black slave lover.  Relive the mystery and intrigue of her story. Accompong Maroon Tour
Meet these black freedom fighters, whose ancestors were brought from Africa by the Spanish in the 17th century.  They successfully resisted enslavement by the subsequent British rulers of the island, their decisive victory resulting in the signing of the peace treaty in 1838-39.  This treaty gave them internal self government and the right to own lands in the remote mountainous region called the Cockpit Country where they live today.
